Lane Wakeland’s 2006 Dodge 2500: Built for Power and Reliability

Lane Wakeland’s 2006 Dodge 2500

“I’ve had some quite ‘wild’ builds over the years,” said Lane Wakeland. “And I figured it was time to build something that is reliable through and through. The first thought that came to mind was an ‘06 Dodge 5.9 with quality transmission work. So that was the plan, and so far it has been accomplished!”

Lane’s favorite part is that these trucks are what got him into his love for diesels.

“My stepfather had a 2nd-gen followed by an early 3rd-gen before then getting an ‘07 5.9,” Lane says. “I’ve always enjoyed how well the trucks have performed.”

Plans are in place for upgrades.

“I have plans to get a fuel system installed on the truck from the boys at AirDog, and add a bit more air with a 2G setup and slightly larger charger from my good buddies at Smeding Diesel,” he says. “A decent 650-700 RWHP truck that drives and tows well is my ultimate goal—a truck you can take a step back and admire.”
